About Jackson Shaver

My road to becoming a therapist…

When I graduated from my undergraduate program in English literature at Texas A&M, I felt a pull to enter the seminary, not knowing where I was being led. After finishing my Master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies with Western Seminary, I still felt unsure. It was upon reflecting on my own mental health journey – my experience with therapy, psychopharmacology, and mental health disciplines – that I realized that I was being called into a field of helping others come to discoveries similar to my own.

What I love about therapy is that it is personalized to every individual. There are numerous modalities to therapy, but the therapist must be able to customize the experience for each person who graces their office to be the most effective. I find that to be a loving idea – every individual deserves an approach as unique as they are.

Here are some “non-therapy” things about me…

Outside of my counseling pursuits, I am a born-and-raised Austinite interested in literature, music, movies, and baseball. I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, playing any sport with my friends, and going to concerts.
